The Private Medical Practice Development (MPD) Program of Tanzania
The MPD is a USAID funded initiative, a collaborative program between APHFTA and Bienmoyo, is the achievement of visionary leadership of Dr. SMA Hashim President of the Board for APHFTA, and scheduled to start in 2011. The initiative will help facility owners and managers from three hundred healthcare facilities over a four year period to learn how to write business plans, set up business systems, establish quality customer and patient care, and prepare the required documentation to apply for loans from local financial institutions. The Private Medical Practice Development Program is comprised of two components. The first is offering business training and on-site consulting support to private health facility owners and operators. The second component is establishing a revolving fund that can be accessed by carefully screened loan applicants and sustained through repayment conditions that will replenish the fund and cover the costs of fund marketing and management.
